Support Group Meetings and Self-help Workbook for youth

Support Group meetings in Estonia

Climate change affects us more and more. On a daily basis, bits of information from the media reach us about how climate change has affected the world – floods, fires, extreme temperatures or weather conditions. This autumn and winter, Peaasi.ee together with the Estonian Green Movement will organize discussion groups to become more aware of the topic, to offer an opportunity to share thoughts with people who also think about climate change and the environmental crisis and for whom these topics evoke strong feelings.

Compass for climate chaos

The collapse of ecosystems, loss of biodiversity, pollution, and natural disasters are just a few reasons to feel anxious, sad, or even apathetic. This booklet offers methods, practices, and ideas to help you care for yourself, others, and nature in these chaotic times. It provides tools for dealing with climate concerns in a healthy way, including readings, meditations, recipes, and projects that foster hope and empowerment. Inspired by Audre Lorde’s words, “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare,” this booklet also draws on Alice Walker’s ‘Anxiety Soup’ and Joanna Macy’s Work That Reconnects (WTR). WTR uses systems thinking, deep ecology, and spiritual practices to guide us through a healing journey for both the world and our connection to it. This resource was created for a climate care summer camp.
